We held our annual Decolonizing the Internet gathering, this time focused on building an agenda for action to decolonize the internet’s languages. Wonderful linguists, activists, archivists, academics, techies, Wikimedians (and more!) met in London this October to discuss how we can create a more multilingual internet.
Our focus was twofold: we talked about the challenges and opportunities for building a multilingual internet, going deeper into the urgent conversations that needed to unfold. Then, we discussed what agenda for action we can create together to decolonize the internet’s languages, focusing on specific actions that participants wanted to work on more deeply. A full report from the convening will be coming soon, meanwhile we hope you enjoy this first taste!
