Whose Knowledge? is mentioned in the International Federation of Library Association’s 2024 trend report, under the trend ‘Knowledge Practices are Changing’. We add our voices to the chorus of co-conspirators, friends and allies who amplify and advocate for minoritised communities (the Global Majority) to be in the center of all spheres of knowledge creation, sharing and infrastructures.
«Whose Knowledge notes that “the knowledge of marginalised communities (the majority of the world) on the internet” needs to be centred, and that currently most publicly available information on the internet is written by “white men from Europe and North America”. There is a growing demand for local content in local languages, from websites to stories and screen content and the inclusion of diverse voices in content and information is increasing.»
